Child of God

"For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders" Isaiah 9: 6

I LOVE christmas time. The smells, the music, the movies, the sights and sounds. It makes my heart skip a beat when october approaches in anticipation for the Christmas season. Usually everyone is home for the holidays and the traditions begin. My sister and I used to sleep in the same bed every Christmas eve and watch Christmas movies until we couldn't keep our eyes open any more. Having children changes things though. It has allowed me to appreciate the season in a much different light. I see the season for what it should be...a celebration of the birth of our saviour. It has always been so easy for me to overlook the real meaning for the Christmas season, but as I look as my children and thank the Lord every night for their lives...it always brings me back to what God gave us. Mary held her son just as I hold mine. God was preparing Him even then to save me. I want my children to appreciate this season not for the presents they get but for the LIFE they will receive because of it.

Most Wonderful Time of the Year

So my camera charger has been lost in the move, so I haven't taken many pictures lately (not that I have time chasing BK around and feeding Colt every 2-3 hours :) Joyful Chaos my mom calls it and indeed it is!! Time is flying by, so hopefully I can get my camera working again and capture some of the sweet moments with my kids before they get to be teenagers (yikes!)

Handsome Man

Adjusting

So big sister Briley has had a little trouble adjusting to life with her baby brother. She is only 19 mo old and the concept that she now has to share time, love, toys and attention with another baby is beyond her capacity to understand. Combine that with the fact that I have been unable to pick her up because of the c-section and she's having some major teething issues has left this poor baby confused and in a tantrum throwing mode on most days. I can only hope that she is able to understand soon that just because she has a new baby brother, our love for her is no less. So I hope you enjoy some pictures of the new big sister!

Welcome Colton!!

Colton made his debut on Nov. 7, 2010 at 8:24 pm. He weighed 6 lbs 5 oz and was 19 1/2 in long. He's been a joy and a delight so far and we can't wait to share some pictures with you; however, we are also in the process of closing on our house and just haven't found the time to get the pictures downloaded but they will come!! Thanks for all the prayers!! We truly know what a miracle it is that he managed to stay put until almost 38 weeks! God you are so GOOD!

Cruisin'

Briley has been cruising the streets the past few months in this sweet ride (haha). We tried to instill patients in our 18 mo old as she circled her daddy waiting for him to finish putting together the "simple" assembly. Once inside she had a blast. She goes on rides regularly with her Ya Ya (my mother) and they collect all sorts of neat stuff like acorns, rocks and leaves. Oh to be little and so fascinated by the simple things in life. Here's to fall and hopefully some cooler weather (although it was almost 90 degrees today).

Pregnancy Update?
Gestational Age: 36 weeks (woop woop)
Estimated Weight: LARGE! for both of us (hahah) He hasn't been weighed since 33 weeks, so we'll see, but i'm betting he's on the rather large size.
Important News: C-section is officially scheduled for Nov. 16 at noon (say a prayer for us) However, I have a feeling when I go off my meds next week we'll be seeing this little guy within 24 hours.
Cravings: Nothing really at this point. I'm so uncomfortable that eating and sleeping have become more of a chore than a pleasure. But that's okay...I"ll trade this any day for a 27 week delivery.
BK's thoughts on the Baby: She thinks that Colton sounds like "cold" so every time we say show us where Colton is she laughs and says "BURRR" Every single time. One day very soon she will learn that her brother is a human and not a piece of ice.

34 weeks!!

So we've reached a HUGE milestone this week!!! Our doctor said that 34 weeks was really the goal, and after that every week is a bonus. So here we are! We're just praying that his little lungs continue to develope and that whenever he decides to make his debut he will be well equipped for life on the outside! So hang in there Colton...Mommy and Daddy are eager to meet you but not just yet! BK also hit a milestone last week...she is 18 mo old!!! Our other miracle baby! She weighed 20 lbs 8 ounces (a petite little thing) and is 32 inches tall. Every day she learns something new and teaches us how to embrace life more. She's amazing and I can't wait to see what God has planned for her! We love you Briley Kate!!

Sprinklers

Just a few pictures of what daddy and BK have been up to while mommy grows a baby...

But here's a little update on how Colton is doing!

Gestational Age: 32 weeks and 3 days (yay!!!!)
Estimated Weight: 4 lbs and 11 oz
Number of weeks on bed rest : 10 weeks (yikes!)
- Only had to go into the hospital once so far (this is compared to 6 times during the last pregnancy)
- we've made it 5 weeks further than when BK was born
Cravings: Icees (poor Brian has to drive a good distance away just to find one...my husband loves me :)
BK's thoughts on the matter this week: I refuse to sleep...I am only doing this to prepare you for the new baby. Please do not be angry.

Game Day

It's no secret around my house that i'm not really an avid football fan. But I do try to get in the spirit. While I don't really understand the game, and I rarely care who wins or loses (I feel like its a sin to say that and be from the south!) I really do love this time of year. Brian's heart belongs to Ole Miss so we cheer for them (although BK does have a cow bell she likes to ring thanks to Aunt Linny). So get your cheer on!

And He Shall Be Called...

COLTON JOSEPH PETTWAY!

Yes we asked ourselves, why are we keeping the name a secret? We've loved so many names that its been hard to pick but this one feels right...it's hard to explain. I just love finally being able to say his name out loud. My sons name. Not just baby boy or "beebo" but the name my son will have throughout his entire life.

Pregnancy Post

Gestational Age: 30 weeks
Baby's Estimated Weight: 3 lbs 12 ounces
Cravings: Macaroni and Cheese...terrible for me, I know
Belly size: LARGE
Baby's Name: We have FINALLY agreed on a name but aren't ready to share it just yet!
Sleeping: not really well, bigger = more uncomfortable = pillow nest just to get to sleep
Best part: besides the fact that we've made it this far...feeling this little guy move!! Knowing that the miracle of life is growing inside of me! Truly an indescribable feeling.
BK's thoughts on the matter: "bubee" what's a baby besides a really large stomach that grows on a mommy? Do I have to share my toys? Do I need to learn to potty train by 2 years old? Must I really hold my own bottle? YES!!

Stock the Bar Party!

So my dearest and youngest cousin, Lauren, is getting married Nov. 6 to a sweet guy that we all love! We had planned on having some sort of shower/party for her and Paul but bed rest had me spinning. So it finally happened and it was so much fun! Luckily I have a super creative sister who worked her little booty off getting everything ready...I helped direct from the couch but mainly felt super bossy because I couldn't really help. So thank you Katie and Lindsey for putting together a wonderful party!!! And congrats to Lauren and Paul....we can't wait to celebrate with yall in a few short months (baby...you better stay in till then!)

Big Red Ball

So I took a break from my bedroom lair to spend a little time sitting outside when the "cold front" came through this week. Yes...a cold front!! Instead of 103, the temp was 93! With a nice breeze in the evening it was quite lovely. Briley LOVES being outside...I have raised a child who is not interested at all in the television (which I don't know how since Brian and I watch way too much) but loves to explore the yard. We even got the pool out which she refused to play in and went straight to the dog bowl. I think Dakota had more fun with the ball than BK. Hope yall enjoyed the cooler weather as much as we did!
